“We have been looking at prayer the past few weeks. This week we’ll look at prayer from a different angle—in the context of Luke’s story about Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38- 42). Today, our culture values hectic schedules and the never-ending pursuit of productivity. Many today can relate to Martha. Similarly, over the centuries in the life of the church, this text has been interpreted to place greater value on the contemplative life. If all of our activity in life distracts us and leaves us no time to be still in the Lord’s pres- ence, are we surprised that our lives, too, may be anxious and troubled? Come Sunday as we look at the ‘One Thing’ Jesus refers to in this passage.”

Over and over again God reaches out and reveals himself to his people. God invites us into relationship as he shares himself. In Jesus, God reveals himself most completely and most clearly. This Sunday we explore Jesus saying, “I am the Bread of Life.” In other words, Jesus is asking us to come to him to be sustained, satisfied, and whole.
